Simple vs Advanced
Two views on the same ledger: what each one shows, and how one quick entry becomes a balanced journal entry.

One ledger, two views
Behind every space is one double-entry ledger: each entry has a debit side and a credit side that add up to the same amount. The Simple and Advanced views are just two ways to read and write that ledger.
Because the data is the same, switching views doesn’t move, change or hide anything. A household that starts in the Simple view can move to full accounting at any time without a migration.
What each view shows
- Simple — Overview, Transactions, Accounts and Budgets. The Overview’s main button is Quick add.
- Advanced — everything in Simple, plus Journal, Periods and Reports. The Overview’s main button becomes Post entry.
Pages that leave the menu still open from a direct link, so links your colleagues share keep working.
From quick entry to journal
When you record a Rp 1,250,000 electricity expense paid from your BCA account in the Simple view, the server posts this journal entry:
| Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| Electricity & water expense | 1,250,000.00 | — |
| Cash at bank — BCA | — | 1,250,000.00 |
| 1,250,000.00 | 1,250,000.00 |
Income and transfers work the same way:
- Income — debit the account that receives the money, credit a revenue account.
- Transfer — debit the destination account, credit the source account. No revenue or expense.
In the Advanced view, the same entry shows in full in the Journal, with its debit and credit lines.
Wording that follows the view
Account types and entry statuses use different words in each view:
- Debt → Liability, Income → Revenue; Asset, Equity and Expense stay the same.
- Recorded → Posted, Undone → Reversed, Cancelled → Voided.
When to use the Advanced view
Switch to Advanced when you need to:
- record entries with more than two lines, such as payroll with deductions;
- record lines in another currency at a specific rate;
- lock periods at month end;
- prepare a trial balance, income statement, balance sheet, cash flow or general ledger.
